Why Choose Keble College?
Keble is one of Oxford’s largest colleges
Built in 1870, its iconic red brick buildings have attracted much attention over the years from event organisers, delegates and B&B guests alike.
The Victorian buildings have been complemented by award-winning developments, allowing us to provide meeting space and accommodation on a variable scale. A large neo-Gothic Dining Hall, a Lecture Theatre seating 250 people and 320 bedrooms make Keble an ideal venue for all types of events. The College offers their ensuite and standard bedrooms during vacation, with breakfast served to guests in the magnificent Dining Hall.
The Dining Hall
The centrepiece of Keble, the magnificent neo-Gothic Dining Hall, offers a magical setting for meals for up to 300 guests whether for a formal banquet or as part of a residential experience.
Guests are seated at long fixed wooden benches surrounded by portraits of iconic figures from Keble’s past. VIPs dine at High Table which overlooks the Hall from its position directly opposite the main entrances. The Keble Dining Hall is the longest in Oxford, and is rumoured to have been an inspiration for the Hall at Hogwarts in the Harry Potter film franchise.
The Chapel
Another iconic feature of Keble is the chapel.
An impressive building in its own right the Chapel sits on the north side of Liddon Quad opposite the Dining Hall and Library. It is also home to the hugely significant religious painting by William Holman-Hunt, The Light of the World, which can be viewed in the purpose-built side Chapel. The Chapel may on occasion be used for drinks receptions or music events.
Tantalising menus
We understand that every event is unique with its own character and specific requirements.
Our experienced Executive Head Chef and his team delight in a challenge and particularly enjoy using fresh, locally sourced ingredients inspired by the seasons, to create enticingly appetising dishes for every palate and occasion.
Our menus have been tailor-made to complement each course, from the starter to dessert. We can also work closely with you on this to create the perfect menu for your special event.
Fabulous grounds
The Main Keble site benefits from a number beautiful Quads, characterised by the manicured lawns and tranquil setting.
The main Quad, Liddon is the centre of Keble with the Chapel on one side facing the Dining Hall and Library on the other. Our Quads are ideal for breakout activities or social events, Pusey is often used for croquet in the summer, whilst Hayward is the perfect location for a relaxed barbecue or drinks reception.
All our grounds are lovingly cared for by our Gardens and Grounds Manager, Ade and his team.
Always evolving
Part of the ethos of Keble when it was founded was to be modern and accessible.
To that end the College has continued to grow with new developments significantly increasing the space that we can offer for conferences, meetings and events of all types. The Arco Building opened in 1995 and the newer Sloane Robinson Building (built in 2002) enclose the intimate Newman Quad, whilst our latest addition, The H B Allen Centre, ensures that we are to provide a cutting-edge experience for all occasions. Throughout its history Keble has continued to deliver exceptional events in beautiful surroundings.
